Storm Clouds Brand Update Vol. 1 (10/24/24)
Share
Hello, not sure how to start this off. Can you tell I've never done of these before?
Right now, we're a couple weeks away from our initial brand launch, so there's excitement for sure but also a solid bit of nervousness involved as well. We're still waiting on the full inventory to be delivered, and the website is almost done but still giving me a hard time with the design. I'm still very confident everything will be done in time so that by the time anyone even reads this, it'll be from a fully functional website.
Goal of the Blog
Overall, my goal for this blog is mainly to keep track of the ups and downs of this brand's journey. I know how I get sometimes, where I avoid the uncomfortability (is that a word?) of keeping record of the present moment and instead chase after perfection, but still enjoy looking back at the past to see how far I've come but I didn't bother to immortalize any of it. I'm teaching myself now to cherish those moments instead of just blindly moving forward.
The Breakdown
Here's the road map to this first drop. I have a couple hundred bags coming: backpacks and matching duffle bags in two color options. I named the first collection Alpha, for obvious reasons. The two matching colorways are called Alpha White and Alpha Lemon. I'm going for a simple website design with plenty photos then I can expand later on. From there, I'll work on building up the Instagram and TikTok. I also need a solid Welcome letter for those who join the e-mail list.
I also want to make some Storm Clouds brand stickers. I already put together the design, but I want to add info to the back as well.
Right now, the thorn in my side is the packaging. I have custom shipping bags that I designed myself to ship the merch in but I haven't found a way to heat seal them closed without burning a hole or ruining the colors. I have a couple ideas on how to fix it so I'll let you know once we figure out a solution.
Looking Forward
All in all, I can't wait to get a chance to see if anyone will be interested in my brand. If I'm being honest, my design philosophy is centered around my personal taste and what I want to wear. I know what I find cool, unique, and interesting and I truly believe there's people out there that share a bit of my style and can find ways to take my ideas and improve upon them and take them in interesting and creative places.
I'm not sure what this will evolve into, but I'm definitely excited to find out. Till next time.
Later Days! (I wonder who knows this reference lol)
